Keltic Transportation Inc. has
had a presence in the Greater Moncton Area since 1997. Currently
located at 90 MacNaughton Avenue in the Caledonia Industrial Park, this
full load carrier has built a solid reputation over the past decade as
one of the premiere transportation service providers in Atlantic
Canada. Enjoying a steady growth since its inception, Keltic presently
has two additional offices in Ontario and one in Nova Scotia.
The
year 2007 saw a brand new project for Keltic, in the form of a 40,000
sq. ft., state-of-the-art building erected on 5 acres, with another 6
acres earmarked with a view to increased growth in the future. The
facility was designed based on the needs of their customers (who
require high security systems & peace of mind!), and the needs of
their people. Through a specially designed access system, the drivers
& staff have access – 24/7 – to a space created to accommodate many
of their needs, especially when coming in off the road. From a work out
in the health & fitness centre - to a relaxing movie while using
the laundry facility – the area has proved to be an excellent feature
for all. Situated along the TransCanada Highway, Keltic is
advantageously located with quick and easy access to Harrisville Blvd,
to Highway 15, and to the Greater Moncton International Airport as well
as to other neighbouring industrial parks in the area. A major provider
of on-time pickup and delivery services and a handler of freight
including full load, as well as logistics, Keltic services all sectors
of the commerce and business industry including manufacturers,
wholesalers, distributers, and retailers.
Keltic Transporation
is owned and operated by Noel Mullins who began the company with one
truck, one trailer, and a vision. A perfectionist with a keen eye for
trends in the marketplace, his passion for attention to detail has
resulted in a company that strives for an open rapport between its
customers and its suppliers based on personality and heart – not just
business. “It’s all about the human touch and flexibility,” says Vickey
Watters, comptroller for Keltic. “We must be able to tailor our
services to our clients’ needs, and our combination of equipment and

the transportation world today, the need for an asset-based business

means to properly meet their needs.
In that regard, Keltic has
over 150 tractors and 211 trailers toward a total of 361 pieces of
modern equipment. A staff of 186 employees make up the team at Keltic
Transportation & Logistics, with 95% of employees residing in
Atlantic Canada. “We are proud of the low turnover among our staff,”
says Vickey Watters, “which is achieved with a mutual respect and
feeling of “family” that exists between all. “Respect” is the
philosophy behind our company – it is reciprocal in nature and creates

A
community-minded organization, Keltic has made a number of
contributions to civic organizations, including involvement with the
YMCA’s building program, Healthy Returns of the Moncton Hospital, Best
Sellers – Campaign for our School Libraries, the True North program at
the Boys & Girls Club, and the Portage Atlantic Drug Dependency
Program to name a few. “It is our way of giving back to the community
in which we live and work,” says Vickey Watters. “It is Keltic’s pledge
to support local endeavours.”
It is with that same sense of
accountability to the community that Keltic addresses environmental
issues such as greenhouse emissions by exploring new technologies in
the reduction of fuel consumption. For example, the installation of
Auxiliary Power Units (APU) on vehicles and equipment is just one area
of change currently being implemented by this company. “We have
invested in the best equipment for our drivers, which promotes
efficiency. Along with the APU installs, Sensor Tracs are also becoming
part of our environmental plan. These devises help both the drivers and
mangers monitor how well a unit is performing, which in turn guides the
decision making process. Additionally, each tractor is connected to
home base via satellite, creating another efficiency plus. Time and
place pose no barrier – communication is always open.” By working
together as a team, Keltic, its drivers, and its customers can come
together to help create environmental accountability while providing
