Visit Hopewell Rocks and you can walk the ocean floor, witness the highest tides in the world, observe the wildlife, or explore the beach and caves. Read on, there is so much to do and see at the beautiful location close the Fundy National Park.

At low tide, explore quiet coves with flowerpot-shaped  rock formations bearing such curious names as 'Mother-in-Law', 'ET' and 'Lover's Arch'. Then, as the tide gently shifts, experience the wonder of nature as 100-billion tonnes of salt-water slowly fills the Bay of Fundy.

These are the highest tides in the world. And they happen twice a day....every day.

At high tide, paddle a kayak around these same sandstone pillars or visit our multi-media interpretive centre where you will learn about the fascinating geology and forces that crafted them. Discover the colourful Mi'kmaq legends created to explain this unique phenomenon of these extraordinary tides.

And that's not all...in late July and early August, witness the awe-inspiring aerial dance performed by thousands of migrating shorebirds.

The Hopewell Rocks is a place to pause…a place to appreciate a remarkable story interwoven through time, tide, and the intricacies of nature.

TIDE SCHEDULE at The Rocks

The Hopewell Rocks Learning Centre

The Hopewell Rocks is the only location where you can combine a Bay of Fundy education with a Bay of Fundy experience.

We consider learning to be half the fun.  Our park Interpretive Centre provides interactive displays to help visitors understand why the Bay of Fundy region is unique.  Members of our interpretive staff will answer any questions that may arise during your visit.

As well, we've compiled online information on the following topics:

The Moon & the Tides
The Highest Tides in the World
Hopewell Rocks geology
Bay of Fundy Shorebirds
Cultural History

The Hopewell Rocks Park closes from mid-October to mid-May.

While  no services are available during this time, the park is still accessible to visitors - Please note that parking is limited to roadside.

Off-season visitors enjoy the park for fall walks and snowshoeing. The viewing decks allow visitors to view the Bay of Fundy in all seasons.

Stairways to the beach are removed top prevent damage from ice, but alternate beach access is available at the north end of the lower parking area and by hiking the trail to Demoiselle Beach. (link to site map)

Visitors are cautioned that they should be aware of tide times before venturing onto the beach and they are responsible for their own safety.
