About Us | Our Menu | Maman Andrea | How to Find Us Joe Moka Cafe: Gourmet Coffee Beans by Cup, Take Home Bag, Speciality Sandwiches and Maman Andrea's Homemade Desserts Joe Moka Cafe may promote the art of informed coffee drinking through its wide selection of beans on the wall, but at it's tasty core, there is a good old fashioned kitchen chef cooking pastries and treats just like grandmother's and mother's have made for decades.
Joe Moka's is a tasty treat. Old recipes and great taste all available at the heart of Downtown Moncton, in Robinson Court on Main Street, and always open seven days a week. Click on Joe Moka Cafe's Hours and Menu Selection. For busy patrons on the time clock run, everything at Joe Moka is pre-wrapped and boxed ready to be assembled into an instant, urban styled boxed lunch, or you can just grab a cookie for the pocket and a lid for the warm liquid's take out. And the fresh made daily Ciabata Bread Sandwiches are just the beginning of taste and treats. Oh, and the reason for the great variety of always fresh cookies, cakes, pies, breads and sweets to go with the selection of gourmet coffees and teas available to be ground into steaming cups, as well as original home made meat pies; well there is a famous NB North Shore mom sending her son Yvan Laviolette, aka "Joe Moka", her "very best" from her community kitchen in Charlo, New Brunswick. Charlo's community kitchen that has trucks and cars parked along the shoreline of the Baie des Chaleurs where she has " Le Moulin Cafi", and a large display case full of home made sweet treats. Since Yvan and his wife made her a grandmother, she is delighted to send her famous home cooking down to Joe Moka's, and for you, well there are tasty delights to be had with your coffee or tea. You can see her promotional kitchen chef's card on the Joe Moka counter as "au delice andrea" and then you know why the new Joe Moka's is getting such a steady trail of new customers. They come for the coffee break, but they stay for their sweet tooth. Yvan comes by his interesting cafe diner style honestly as his mom Andrea is famous on Charlo's Route 134 for her giant taste coming from a tiny kitchen, with sparse seating and a stand up clientele who have been loyally finding their way to her treats for decades. Yvan recently purchased the Joe Moka location and is revitalizing it and making it Euro-trendy, but with a down home Acadian flare. You have to try the home-made-by-Andrea meat pie. It is to...well you can dare to eat too much- it's sooo good. The crust is home baked the way pie crusts used to be made, back when making a crust was an art form for kitchen bakers. Just order the meat pie and see(eat and taste), for yourself. Yvan and Joe Moka's counter staff take the whole grain Ciabata bread sandwiches and make something different for lunch too, from the standard fare of same-same sandwiches so many face every lunch time. Yvan and his friendly counter staff make them fresh every day from crisp ingredients and be sure to ask for them to heat up the Ciabata sandwich bread before you bite into it. Ciabata Sandwiches are available with a real tender chicken breast, , with more variations to come from the sandwich menu makers at Joe Moka's Main Street kitchen. Tasty does not begin to cover it.Presentation for the Ciabata sandwich comes in a tri-cornered shapes, roughly the size of a person's large hand and they add fresh cooked chicken breast, or a zesty ham & cheese, or a choice of sliced turkey, or egg with garnishes and viola there is a sandwich worthy of the tasty tea and coffee selection to go with it. Add a couple of Andrea's hearty, health cookies ( look for the healthy cookie promo sign- great for guilt over sweets ), and you have a divine lunch for an economical budget. There's more to Joe Moka than meets the lip of coffee cup, however. There's interesting and unique art on the wall, with up tempo music on the speakers and a relaxed warm atmosphere like you would find on a side street in an European coffee bistro where everyone loves to hang out, read, play checkers or chat with friends. And if you ask, there's Joe Moka Goes Wireless, which is available to patrons if you need to log unto the Internet briefly, or to download an article off the web to read while feasting on the Charlo-certified good eats sweets by Mother Chef Andrea.
